Elemental Energy Technologies Ltd (“EET”) has been formed to hold and commercialise a portfolio of provisional and patent pending applications, research and proprietary know-how for its revolutionary, environmentally-friendly, marine Vortex Reaction Turbine Generator.
EET has developed a true 3rd generation (“3G”) tidal energy technology and named it the SeaUrchin. A turbine that is scalable and can be optimised to operate in a very wide range of flow rates (as low as 1.5 metres per second) making it deployable in the greatest range of locations around the world. This feature alone represents a major technological advantage over other tidal technologies that are dependent on much higher flow rates to operate efficiently and so have very limited deployment options by comparison.

It has been developed to harness the virtually inexhaustible kinetic energy of free-flowing ocean streams, tides and flowing rivers by exploiting the underlying principle and raw power of an ocean whirlpool. It harnesses up to four times more power and is up to 70% more efficient than conventional “propeller” driven, marine generators commonly in use and under trial today.
The SeaUrchin™ can be mass produced from proven, inexpensive materials and components used by boat builders and marine electrical equipment manufacturers. Importantly, it has only one moving part and is expected to be around half the cost of competing marine generators to manufacture, install and maintain. |
